Recommended Rides

Emerson Motor Work's BMW Motorcycle shop is located near some of the best motorcycle roads in the New England. The Green Mountains of Vermont have a great reserve of both two-lane blacktop covered twisties as well as outstanding dirt roads and trails, all punctuated by charming towns with good food and quaint swimming holes. Stop by the next time you are in the area and we will be happy to point you in the direction of a great ride, if there's time we may even come along. We look forward to having you visit our motorcycle shop. In the meantime here is a list of some of our favorite rides.

  • Ride the Gaps, almost all blacktop: heading North on Rt 100, turn West onto Rt 73 (Brandon Mountain Rd). Ride over the gap, keep your eyes peeled for peregrine Falcons and Moose North of the road and just East of the top of mountain. On the West side head North on Rt 53 around Lake Dunmore and then take Rt 7 North to Rt 125 East (Middlebury Gap). When you reach Rt 100, head North through Granville Gulf, another great place to spot Moose. Take Rt 100 ~14.5 miles and at the village of Warren (good lunch stop in Warren) turn off of Rt 100 onto Lincoln Gap Rd, heading West. On the West side of Lincoln Gap rd take 116 North to 17 East and ride the Appalachian Gap pas Mad River Glen ski area. Rt 17 will take you back to Rt 100 from which you can head home or you can finish of your gap ride by continuing East from Warren over Roxbury Gap.
  • GS variant of the Gap Ride, more dirt than above but still ride the passes: before getting to Rt 73, just North of Stockbridge Village look for Liberty Hill Rd on the left side of Rt100. Take Liberty Hill Rd up and over, it will bring you back to Rt 100. Proceed North to Rt 73 (as above). On the West side of Rt 73 look for the Goshen-Ripton Rd and take it North to Rt 125 and proceed East. At the junction with Rt 100, head North. After a bit more than a mile turn right onto Buffallo Hill Rd, follow this to the North Hollow Rd. North Hollow rd will bring you back to Rt 100, continue North for a bit more than a mile and take Plunkton Rd (on your right) to Fuller Hill Rd (on your left). This will bring you to the East side of Warren Village. Find your way to Lincoln Gap Rd, off Rt 100 on the West side of Warren Village and proceed as above to Rt 17 via Rt 116. From here there are many good options, explore and let us know what you find.
